Our daughter’s life started out rough. She was born premature with many struggles. We didn’t learn about her High Functioning Autism until later when she struggled while in the public school system. We kept getting complaints about her from the staff. She was being bullied by her peers for being different. After having her evaluated and diagnosed with Autism, the school still didn’t seem interested in meeting her needs, so we decided that it was time to move on to another option.
We wanted a good education for our daughter, but we weren’t sure where else to turn. After praying for a solution, we learned about Easterseals Academy at Riverdale. It was a wonderful idea, but the only problem was that it was out of our financial league. So now what?!
Thank goodness someone introduced us to the Philanthropic Investment in Arkansas Kids (PIAK) Scholarship, which can be used toward tuition at K-12 private schools, including Easterseals Academy.
Aidan is making some real friends, learning life skills to be independent, and getting the therapy she needs. She is being accepted by everyone, getting a real education, earning a diploma/ credits that she can take with her later in life to further her education in college or in any kind of job training she will need to be successful.
She is exactly where she needs to be thanks to this scholarship. It has made a huge difference in our lives, and we couldn’t be more grateful for this program.
